Captain Tylawsky is the founder, President, and CEO of Maritime Expert Group, Inc. and is an actively licensed and credentialed USCG Master Mariner and former Senior unlimited Bay, River, and Ocean San Francisco Bar Pilot (retired in 2021). Greg began pilot training in 2007 after 23 years at sea as Third, Second, Chief Officer finally culminating in numerous global commands onboard U.S. flag containerships over 7 years as Permanent Master with Maersk Line, Ltd. He is a recipient of the Merchant Marine Expeditionary Award having served as Master on the first US Flag Ship to enter the active war zone for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Captain Tylawsky’s extensive training and rare combined experience as both an Unlimited Shipmaster with 1st Class Pilotage endorsements and a well over a decade of experience piloting every type of ship in challenging conditions give him unique qualifications to provide Consultancy and Witness Services in matters of commercial maritime operations along several crucial areas. In cases where there is a need to explain procedures, aspects, terms, and science of the Maritime world to nonmariners, Captain Tylawsky excels in making the complex simple and relatable.

In 2023, Captain Tylawsky was honored to attain the globally recognized distinction of Chartered Master Mariner awarded by the Honorable Company of Master Mariners (London). It is a mark of excellence that evidences personal eminence and expertise, superior competence, and peer-recognized qualities.
